About this worksheet
“Uppercase and Lowercase” is sheet 15 of 30 in our free Kindergarten Reading & Writing Worksheets collection, written for children aged 5–6.
In the set it comes after “Rhyme Time” and before “Ending Sounds, Set 2”. Working through them in that order, one sheet a day, builds the skill a step at a time.
What this worksheet practices

Language · Conventions of standard English
Children work on grammar and usage — nouns, verbs, adjectives, sentences and how they fit together.
How to use this worksheet
- 1
Work the sound sheets in order: beginning sounds, then ending sounds, then CVC. Middle vowel sounds are the hardest to hear, so they come last for a reason.
- 2
Sight words are memorised, not sounded out. Five minutes a day beats one long session — these are the words like "the" and "said" that break phonics rules, and they only stick with repetition.
- 3
On "Clap the Syllables", clap with your child rather than watching. Syllable awareness is physical before it is intellectual, and joining in gives them the beat to copy.
- 4
Keep "Draw and Label". It is the first writing task with a real purpose, and children who label their own drawings start writing sentences noticeably sooner.
