How to get the most out of them

Do "Make 10" before any addition sheet, not after. Number bonds to ten are what make first-grade addition fast, and children who learn them late end up counting on fingers for another year.

For "Adding with Pictures", cover the answer box and ask your child to say the whole sentence out loud — "three and two make five". Saying it is what moves it into memory.

Print "Counting by Tens" twice. It is the one sheet on this list worth repeating, because skip counting is the foundation of place value in 1st grade.

Let them use physical objects. Buttons or pasta next to the sheet is not cheating at this age; the picture on the page is a stand-in for objects, and the objects work better.
