About this worksheet
“Trace the Vowels: a, e, i, o, u” is sheet 42 of 46 in our free Pre-K Alphabet Tracing Worksheets collection, written for children aged 3–5. It focuses on vowels.
In the set it comes after “Trace Letter Partners: Uu to Zz” and before “Trace First Words: cat, dog, sun”. Working through them in that order, one sheet a day, builds the skill a step at a time.
How to use this worksheet
- 1
Say the sound of the letter as the child traces it, and point at the picture. "Buh, bee" ties the shape to the sound, which is the part that transfers to reading.
- 2
Let the stroke row be finished properly before the letters. If the curves are wobbly, the letter rows will be too — repeat the strokes rather than pushing on.
- 3
One or two letters a day is enough. The uppercase pages are roughly a month of short sessions; start the lowercase pages once the capitals feel easy.
- 4
Laminate a page or open it in the online studio and trace with a finger first, then with a pencil.
