About this worksheet
“Poetry: Diamante Poem” is sheet 29 of 30 in our free 3rd Grade Writing Worksheets collection, written for children aged 8–9. It focuses on poetry, one of two sheets in the set on that skill.
In the set it comes after “Write a Friendly Email” and before “Research Notes: An Animal”. Working through them in that order, one sheet a day, builds the skill a step at a time.

How to use this worksheet
- 1
Talk through the plan out loud before writing. A child who can say their three reasons will write them far more easily.
- 2
After the planner, copy the paragraph onto lined paper. Keeping planning and writing separate is how 3rd graders learn to organise ideas.
- 3
Use the CUPS checklist on every piece of writing, not just the sample paragraph.
